Thompson with amazing illustrations by Ralph Steadman. **RARE 1998 FIRST MODERN LIBRARY MOVIE TIE-IN EDITION WITH DUST JACKET IN PRISTINE CONDTION PLUS EXTRA MOVIE POSTCARD PROMO** Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. The back flap of the dust jacket, at the bottom, shows the code: 6/72. The copyright page also shows true-first edition number line: 97532468. Actually, the book was printed in 1972, after two serialized appearances in Rolling Stone. First edition is stated on copyright page, which is dated 1971. The $5.95 price is on the front flap, which flap has a small crease. The Very Good condition dust jacket has wear at top and bottom of spine and shows general wear and some discoloring on front and back, along with some minor chipping. The first endpaper has a small brown stain.

The silver lettering is sharp on the black spine. While front and back grey boards are slightly fading at the edges, the fading does not touch Steadman's masterful depiction of Thompson that is etched onto the front grey board. Internally in Fine condition, the book is resplendent with Steadman illustrations that have helped make this a legendary classic of Gonzo Journalism. This is a Very Good+ condition first edition copy of Thompson's classic title.
